Hospitals, the community and family are all important in the treatment of Parkinson's disease, medical experts said yesterday ahead of World Parkinson's Disease Day on April 11.
Proper and regular medical treatment, psychological direction and care are effective to help control the disease, which is progressive without a cure at present, they said.
In China, about 1.7 percent of people over 65 suffer from Parkinson's.
"Experts estimated patients will grow to 4.94 million in 2030, due to the increasing number of elderly people in the nation," said Dr Chen Shengdi, of Rujin Hospital.
"Rehabilitation training is a useful method to delay the deterioration and enhance patients' lives. It needs the participation of medical facilities, family members and the whole society."
