Wangchao Dajiudian (Dynasty Hotel)
This 26-floor circular glass tower wants to be the International Hotel but it isn't, although it is the town's best three-star. Haggle to make sure breakfast is included. "Junior" rooms have no windows but can be bargained down to ¥150 ($19). Some superior twins have interesting triangular shapes, larger-than-average bathrooms and, on one side of the hotel, views over an area of preserved old houses. Refurbished in 2002, guest rooms and bathrooms, while standard, are fresh. There's a battered rooftop "English pub" with views, and an "English corner" where students practice their English (with beer) on Thursday.
