Touted as bringing "the European touch" to Wuhan, this new French joint-venture (part of the Accor group) distinguishes itself from the pack of four-star hotels with its creative decor. In the guest rooms, cone-shaped bed lamps are set against blonde wood; the look is smart and streamlined. Though standard rooms are on the small side, they still feel light and airy. And smallish bathrooms are made to feel roomier by a black marble counter that is big enough to accommodate a travel case and toiletries and looks elegant against white tiled walls. Novotel's central location between the concession area and the Hankou railway station is convenient for both shopping and sightseeing.
