Opened in 2003, the four-star Sheng Hua is Chengde's best hotel in terms of furnishings. Rooms are spacious; luxury twin (standard) rooms even come equipped with their own computer. Bathrooms are well furbished and come with elaborate massage-jet showers. A new wing, located on the site of the old bus station, is due to open in 2006. It will house a pool and fitness center. Staff is helpful with inquiries, and speaks English and French.
