Lu Xun Guju
Turn right as you leave the Lu Xun museum and walk back to Lu Xun's former residence, almost next door. This is one of the most pleasant old buildings open to the public in Shaoxing, dating from the early 1800s. Lu Xun was born here in 1881 and lived here until his family sold the building in 1918. Alterations were made, but the layout has been "reconstructed according to the description of Lu's relatives and friends." The long, slender building has a series of black-pillared, white-walled courtyards on two axes, and is brightened by red-painted window screens and plants. That's the original pearwood bed in his bedroom, and it was here that he wrote his first story,Memories of the Past.
