Luzhou Binguan (Oasis Hotel)
Managed by the same Hong Kong entrepreneur who created the Silk Road Hotel in Dunhuang, this three-star hotel set in rambling grounds is showing signs of age and group-tour syndrome. The only reason to stay here is for the Uighur-style rooms on the first floor, with low beds perched on a raised platform and richly colored rug. Book ahead and specify that you want a"minzu tese fangjian"(minority-flavored room). Service is remarkably helpful.
Facilities:
3 restaurants; bike rental; billiards room; concierge; tour desk (CITS); business center; 24-hr. forex; same-day laundry
