The European Union is to hold a series of activities in Shanghai next month where locals can enjoy a great variety of European food and experience the diversity of European cuisine, the EU delegation to China announced yesterday.
China has the potential to become one of the most important agricultural product markets for the EU, according to Raimondo Serra, the delegation's Counselor for Agricultural Affairs.
"The export amount of EU agricultural products to China would exceed 2.3 billion euros (US$3.64 billion) by 2010," he predicted.
The EU will have its own booth at the SIAL 2008 food fair at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from May 14. A 150-square-meter booth will also be set up for European products.
Top chefs will hold several live cooking shows to show visitors how to properly prepare some of the classic European dishes.
