difference between 懂 and 懂得

这两个动词都表示知道、熟悉。“懂”常做谓语，也可以做补语。“懂得”只做谓语。
Both verbs can mean “to understand, to be familiar with.” 懂 is used either as the predicate or as a complement. 懂得 can only be the predicate.
（1）你懂（懂得）这句话的意思吗？
（2）他把这个问题弄懂了。
（3）他看不懂中文。
（4）有不明白的地方就要问，不要装懂。
例（1）中“懂”做谓语，例（2）和（3）中“懂”做补语，例（4）的“懂”做宾语。
