Foreign publishers, such as Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press and McGraw-Hill, will bring nearly 2,000 newly published books to the city.

More than 40 kinds of books will be making their debut at the fair with the organizer, Shanghai Xinhua Media Group, hoping to encourage the launch of more new books in the city, said Zhao Jianping, the group's vice president.

For the first time, the book fair will have a province of honor. Anhui Province, the first holder of the title, will display its publications.

Tickets for the fair, priced at 10 yuan (US$1.46), are available at newspaper kiosks and Xinhua book stores.
