A total of 35 cultural items, including "Legend of Five Rams", has been put on Guangzhou's official list of the first group of non-physical cultural heritage items.
Non-physical cultural heritage items are classified into nine categories: folk literature, folk music, folk dance, traditional opera, folk performing arts, folk fine arts, traditional handicrafts, traditional medicines, and folk customs.
Compared with the tentative list published for public comments in March this year, one item, "Guangzhou Tea Drinking Custom", is missing from the official list. Six of the 35 items, including Guangdong Music, Guangdong Lion Dance, Guangdong Opera, Guangzhou Embroidery, Ivory Carving and Cool Drink, has been included into the national list of non-physical cultural heritage. The six items, along with Huangge Kylin Dance, Guangzhou Porcelain Coloring and Shawan Parading Dramatic Performance, have also earned a place on the provincial list.
