High-tech focus for Science Week

Residents will have the chance to participate in more than 300 popular science activities this month, including an exhibition of high-tech products to be used at the Beijing Olympic Games and Shanghai World Expo.

City officials said yesterday that Shanghai Science Week will be held from May 17-23.

"Locals will get the opportunity to experience the excitement of science and technology during the week," Chen Xiaohua, director of the popular science department of the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, said yesterday.

He said the activities will include exhibitions, high-tech movies, forums, lectures and salons. Details will soon be published on the official Website, www.shkp.org.cn.
