The 27-story Marriott, which opened in 1989 as the first of three hotels at Pacific Place, is overshadowed by the more luxuriously appointed Conrad and Island Shangri-La . Its lobby, while not as grandiose as others in this category, is nonetheless the only one of Pacific Place's hotels to offer views of the harbor from its lounge (though recent construction has robbed the lounge of its once-grandiose panorama). Wireless access is available in the hotel's public spaces. Rooms, though small, are all designed with right-angled "saw-toothed" windows to maximize views of the harbor or Peak and are outfitted with duvet-covered queen- or king-size beds with red-and-gold runners, large marbled bathrooms with separate tub and shower areas, and oversize desks. On the downside, rooms facing the harbor are subject to the slight din of traffic; since rates are the same, request a room on a high floor.
