White Lion Hotel (Wei Lai En Fandian)
This is the hotel that I always choose when I am bringing friends to Yangshuo for the first time. It is right in the heart of West Street, with rooms that actually overlook the bars and shops. Perhaps it's a bit noisy, but it provides a great introduction to Yangshuo. The rooms have a somewhat rustic feel to them with wooden floors and pine furniture, a refreshing change from the anonymous beige of most Chinese hotels. The staff is helpful and can arrange a variety of tours, and even cookery courses at the owner's new restaurant around the corner, Seventh Heaven.
