According to the "Regulations for Promotion of Independent Science and Technology Innovation Capacity" recently released by the Guangzhou Municipal Government, over the next five years, independent innovation of enterprises can enjoy financial support and other preferential policies on loans and taxation, and more support will be provided to people who establish their career in Guangzhou.
The Regulations will come into force commencing next month, in June of 2007. The regulations stipulate that, in the next five years, science and technology investment will be significantly increased. By 2010, R&D input is expected to account for over 2% of regional GDP.
