Paulaner Brauhaus (Baolaina)
Highly popular with local businessmen and their families, Shanghai's biggest beer house is a massive 1930s three-story structure isolated from the road by a large green courtyard that serves as a summer beer garden. The in-house German-style brewery makes its own Munchner ale and lager, which goes down well with heaps of sauerkraut, sausages, cabbage, and bratwurst.
