Y-Town Club (Wàitan Huìguan)
The staff say this two-story colonnaded brick building was a French-built hospital, and it retains its colonial flavor not only in the architecture, but in the presence on the menu of pan-Asian expat favorites such as beef curry rice (including soup of the day). The interior is modern and sophisticated, and includes a piano bar and a teppanyaki restaurant. Seating on the lantern-hung balcony overlooking the town-center river confluence is pleasantly cool in the evening, and there's plenty of chilled beer to enjoy here or at tables by the water's edge.
