Shanghai homestay??

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had any information regarding homestays in Shanghai.

Shanghai is the first place I will arrive and, having no Chinese language in my brain what-so-ever, I feel that participating in a homestay could be a good option.

So, with this in mind, Im looking for homestays that could provide Chinese tuition, possibly in exchange for English tuition too as I have teaching experience.

Any information will be of great help.

It's really funny the lotusstudy.com told itsself a "non-profit organization", but it's homestay's rates are nearly 2000 USD per month.

I think even the best homestay in US or UK may only cost 1000 USD per month. But in China this agency ask for 2000 USD.

Hi, you may try www.VIPlily.com. It's quite good. My company has two interns from US have used their free homestay service and they told the service is quite nice. They find two host families in Lujiazui, one is a villa, another is a luxury apartment. Both are in down town area( Nearby Grand Hyatt). and the fee they pay for the free homestay is only 300 to 400 USD(for three months. I don't know the website raised their rates or not). another website www.lotusstudy.com also offer homestay service in China, but their fee is nearly 2000 USD per month, really ridiculous. more funny is in their website the they told "As a non-profit organization based in California, Lotus Educational Foundation is the top and oldest study-abroad organization facilitating homestay in China. " .Really can't understand what kind of expats will use the homestay service which will cost them 2000 USD per month just for one bedroom, and it's in China. Are all the US students so rich?
