A ceremony was held in Lausanne on Tuesday for the departure of over 700 Olympic treasures for their China tour.

Parts of the exhibits, including several Olympic torches and the sportswear presented by Chinese Olympic champion Liu Xinag were on display before the Olympic Museum, where China's national flag was raised and the Chinese national anthem was played, according to a Xinhua dispatch.

The exhibition, co-sponsored by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Chinese Olympic Committee and the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), is featured by "five complete sets", namely a complete set of Olympic torches, victory medals, commemorative stamps, Olympic Games posters, and mascots. In addition, a collection of the films for each edition of the Olympic Games and over 200 precious photographs are also included.

The exhibition is the largest of its kind to be held outside the IOC headquarters under IOC support. Many exhibits, including a complete set of Olympic Summer Games' torches and victory medals are touring a country outside Europe for the first time. It heralds IOC's campaign series to publicize the Beijing Olympics in the one-year run-up to the Games.

An organizer said IOC President Jacques Rogge will be in Beijing to attend the opening ceremony at Beijing International Exhibition Center on August 8, 2007, on the occasion of on-year countdown to the 2008 Olympic Games.

The exhibition will stay open for a year and will tour 14 Chinese cities includingShanghai,Qingdao, Hong Kong, Macao and Chongqing.
