This popular Taiwanese chain with outposts in Beijing and Shanghai has made its first foray into the Chinese hinterlands with this branch, just steps from the Crowne Plaza/Holiday Inn/Sofitel ghetto. Stylishly decorated with red-velvet booths, satin curtains, and bamboo, the interior attracts China's nouveau riche and hipster crowds. But even without the cool interior, this place would do well on the merits of its dishes, which include delectable island specialties such as stewed fatty pork, fried tofu, and stir-fried dragon beans. The specialty drinks, like the blended mango with coconut and sago, are refreshing snacks in themselves. Good for a late-night bite, too.
