Yak Hotel (Yake Binguan)
Popular with both tour groups and individual travelers, this hotel is several notches up from some of the decrepit guesthouses that line Beijing Dong Lu. Individual rooms are decorated with Tibetan furnishings while the dorm rooms are plain and functional. Both the Yak and the Pentoc (listed below) are often considered "hubs" where tourists gather and share information. The bathrooms are very clean and showers are inviting. Next door is the ever-popular Dunya restaurant. The staff here is decent, though unwilling to give much of a discount as the place is often booked. Reserve ahead of time.
