Singapore Cuisine (Xin Jia Po Canting)
The restaurant's name may not be very inspired, its decor not terribly creative (wall posters of Singapore compete with red and green tinsel hanging from the ceiling), but happily, the food served at this restaurant tucked away on the south side of the Kerry Center is authentic and mouthwatering Singaporean and Malaysian fare, as evidenced by the mostly Sinagporean clientele. The menu is extensive, filled with curry, chiliblanchan(chili mixed with shrimp paste), andnonyadishes and snacks found at the best of Sinagpore's hawker stalls. Worth trying are thelaksa(rice noodles in a spicy coconut soup), the chili crab (Singapore style), spicy Assam fish head, and sambal prawns. Finish up with thebubur chachadessert (yam, sweet potato and sago in coconut milk) or anice kachang(red or green bean with shaved ice). Service is friendly and efficient.
