Frommer's Review
Located in a recessed courtyard off Renmin Lu in the center of town, this is one of Zhengzhou's more popular and long-standing restaurants. The decor here is traditional Chinese with a loud festive atmosphere during peak dining hours. The food is uniformly excellent and intriguing, especially thexiangma shaobing jia niurou(also known as Zhengzhou's "hamburger"); it consists of marinated cold beef sandwiched in fried sesame bread -- a subtle but sublime mix of cold and hot, savory and sweet. Other noteworthy dishes includeba sushijin,a vegetarian dish of mushrooms, seasonal greens, and bamboo shoots; andguotie doufu,a tofu casserole. Service is efficient and friendly but the staff doesn't speak English, nor is there an English-language menu.
