Like Deju Yuan, this appealing courtyard guesthouse, which opened in 2000, gets a mix of Chinese, European, and North American guests. Aware of growing competition, its savvy proprietors have continually renovated and added services and facilities to keep ahead of the pack. In 2003 the guesthouse added Internet access and a sauna. One of its biggest attractions is its Shanxi opera performances(Jin ju),which are likely to occur on hot summer nights when the guesthouse is full and the performers available.
