Su Zhe Hui (Jade Garden)
This branch of one of the more highly regarded and popular Shanghai chain restaurants offers diners its signature local dishes as well as Hong Kong-style dim sum in a classy and refined setting. Unadorned glass panels, marble floors, cream-colored chairs, and muted lighting all take a back seat to the food here. Not everything on the menu excites, so pick well: tea-smoked duck, wine-preserved green crab, andmizhi huofang(pork and taro in candied sauce) are all house specialties that live up to their renown; the noodles with scallions and small shrimp are some of the most delicious in town; andqicai dongsun(fresh winter shoots with local greens) is something you're unlikely to get back home. Service is highly efficient.
