Yi Yuan (Grace Courtyard)
This Hong Kong-Chinese joint venture winery, which is run by a French wine master, produces probably the best wine in China -- but it's exported to Europe. This countryside winery, about 90 minutes from Pingyao on the road to Taiyuan, is a pleasant place to visit. You can sample some of the excellent wine, examine the state-of-the-art production facilities, and walk through the vineyard and adjoining fruit orchards.
