Volunteer applicants for Olympic medal ceremony assessed

The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) held an assessment session on Friday to choose the volunteers for the medal ceremonies of the Beijing Olympic Games.

The candidates had already offered their voluntary services for the Good Luck Beijing sport events this year. They won praise from the athletes of different participating countries and regions as well as the spectators.

In their speeches, both Wang Wei, BOCOG executive vice-president and secretary-general, and Jiang Xiaoyu, BOCOG executive vice-president, expressed hope that the would-be volunteers would showcase the elegance of China's youth and the demeanor of China and add glamour to the Olympic Games with their beautiful smiles.

The participants faced a strong lineup of panelists from more than ten professional organizations, several Chinese Olympic champions and other celebrities.
