Named for its striated layers of rock that resemble folded brocade, this hill was most popular with poets and painters in the Ming and Qing dynasties, whose visits were commemorated by scores of inscriptions carved in the rock face. Halfway up the hill is the Wind Cave, a tunnel of cool breezes that extends right through the mountain. The city's highest peak (elev. 223m/731 ft.) has some unobstructed views of the Li River.
