Yalu Zang Canting
The dilemma that many travelers encounter when in Tibet is wanting to support Tibetan establishments, though the taste of tsampa and yak butter tea tends to drive them away. Yaluzang offers a happy solution: delicious Chinese food in a Tibetan-owned restaurant. Unfortunately, the Chinese dishes only appear on the Chinese menu, and the English menu is full of the standard backpacker fare. Ask forchao bocai(stir-fried spinach),tieban niurou(iron plate beef),chao mianpian(stir-fried noodle pieces),qingjiao niurou(green peppers and beef), andgali tudou(curry potatoes). The environment is traditional Tibetan, which means benches covered with wool carpets and low tables. Be patient with the slow service.
