Le Tire Bouchon
This dark, cozy bistro near the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator was first established in 1986 and claims to be Hong Kong's oldest independent restaurant with a French chef. It sports a Parisian, casual atmosphere and serves classic French food heavy on the sauces. You might wish to start with escargots with garlic and parsley butter, moving on to beef filet in port-wine and shallot sauce, fresh duck liver, or steak with black peppercorn sauce. Fatten up even more on any of the sumptuous desserts, and indulge in one of the 190-some bottles of French wines from the restaurant's climatically controlled cellar. You probably wouldn't want to eat like this every day, but you certainly won't regret it while you're here.
