Renmin Binguan
Directly connected to the People's Auditorium, this midrange hotel has a four-star east wing and a three-star south wing that isn't quite as plush, but is a good value for the price. The hotel has a central downtown location; a friendly, helpful staff; and a 1950s Russian architecture that offers a change from the usual. The south wing has several sizes of standards for different rates, so ask to see each option. The one room with the lowest rate (¥200/$25) is clean, but small and slightly mildewed. For ¥320 ($40) you get a bigger, airier room. But the east wing rooms are better still -- with larger rooms and balconies in some units -- and worth the extra money.
Facilities:
3 restaurants; bar; exercise room; airline, train, and bus ticketing; business center; forex; 24-hr. room service; dry cleaning/laundry
