Hebei Century Hotel (Hebei Shiji Dafandian)
This Chinese five-star 29-floor glass cylinder tower opened in 2000 with a cavernous lobby and good-size rooms, if typically tiny bathrooms. The guest rooms have the standard neoclassical cabinetry of international five-stars, but someone involved in the design has been a bit more adventurous with color than is common to Chinese-run hotels, and service is a notch above average, too.
