Old House Inn (Lao Shi Guang Jiudian)
It doesn't get any more nostalgic or atmospheric than at this boutique hotel in a 1930s lane house in the former French Concession. Those nostalgic for old Shanghai Chinese style will surely love the rooms, some a little small, but all tastefully and elegantly refurbished with classic Chinese furniture, four poster beds with wispy mosquito netting and gorgeous hardwood floors. Bathrooms, however, are thoroughly modern. Sharing space is a reasonably priced Western restaurant, A Future Perfect, for those craving a taste of home. Its central location puts you in the heart of the French Concession within minutes. There have, however, been complaints of insufficient heating during the winter months.
