With an ideal location -- you can walk to many sights including Shou Xi Hu or simply stroll along the nearby canals -- and an interesting history -- supposedly constructed on the site of Qianlong's imperial villa -- this four-star hotel is the most popular choice with Western tour groups and independent travelers. Units are furnished with comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, and the usual amenities, though some rooms show signs of age. Service is acceptable, but nothing more.
