Yangzhou State Guesthouse (Yangzhou Yingbinguan)
Set on lovely expansive green grounds next to Slender West Lake, this hotel, which used to be closed to the public and used only for visiting high dignitaries, is the best in town. Former Chinese president Jiang Zemin, who is from Yangzhou, stays in building 1 when he is in town. Rooms are nicely decorated with colorful pillows and modern furniture. Bathrooms, impeccably clean, have a separate tub and shower.
