Riverside Cafe (Hepan Kafei)
The best continental breakfast in Beijing is, alas, only served up on the weekend. It's not really by the riverside (and you wouldn't want it to be), but the outdoor seating is pleasant. The same can't be said of the service: Rarely have so few been ignored by so many. Australians will be delighted to find Vegemite on the menu, the sourdough toast and the poached eggs are both perfect and there's a tempting selection of pastries in the deli. Open 8am to 11pm.
