Saima Chang Menggu Dahui Gong
A performance stage and over 100ger(or yurts) have been erected on the large open field next to Hohhot's horse-racing track. They comprise one big restaurant specializing in Mongolian fare -- from noodles to an entire barbecued goat. Even if you're not interested in eating, the time to come is between 6:30 and 9pm, when Mongolian folk musicians and dancers perform on the outdoor stage free of charge. On hot summer nights, Mongolians and Han alike bring their families for an inexpensive evening out. The combination ofger, outdoor music, and a crowd lends a county-fair atmosphere.
