Taibei Shangwu Jiudian (Taibei Suites Hotel)
Plunked down in the middle of Urumqi is this extremely stylish new hotel aimed at Taiwan hipsters and business executives. The rooms are the best in Xinjiang -- plush minimalist sofas and armchairs and comfy large beds give the rooms a professional, modern feel. The bathrooms, with sparkling new fixtures, come with separate shower and tubs. The hallways and lobby buzz with a muted ambience. Rates here are cheaper than at the Hoi Tak and the Xinjiang Grand Hotel for now, though they may increase as the hotel gains a loyal following. TheTaibei Kafeiting (Taibei Cafe)on the third floor offers fantastic coffee and desserts.
