World of Tsingtao Beer
The Tsingtao beer factory was closed to the public until recently; now, it's become a must-see attraction for most visitors to Qingdao. The well-curated museum offers a history of the beer, which debuted in China in 1903 as a British-German venture. Displays of print and film advertisements from the 1930s are worth checking out as is the actual bottling assembly line. The tour ends at the Tsingtao Bar, where you'll be treated to a pitcher of beer and given a souvenir -- not a bad PR pitch. English signage in the museum is adequate for explaining most of the exhibits but you can call ahead to arrange for an English-speaking guide.
