The European Union Chamber of Commerce Pearl River Delta Chapter is pleased to invite you to the seminar about the latest Development in Corporate Income Tax reform, on the 10th January in Guangzhou.

The latest developments in corporate income tax reform will be covered by Charles Leung, Partner from Pricewaterhouse Coopers.
The Corporate Income Tax Law (CIT Law), passed in March 2007, will be effective from 1 January 2008 and the Detailed Implementation Rules (DIR) have been released on 11 December 2007.Mr. Leung will provide in-depth information and use his expertise to answer the questions you may have on its implementation, including:
- What are the key actions to be taken at the beginning of the year 2008?
- What constitutes "effective management and control” in China and what precautionary actions should be taken to avoid foreign enterprises to be subject to China income tax on its worldwide income?
- Does the detailed implementation regulations (DIR) codify taxation treatments for various forms of corporate restructuring in detail?
- How can Foreign Invested Enterprises qualify for tax incentives under the new income tax regime and what are the changes to be made in satisfying the new parameters?
- What are the impacts on future taxable income with respect to the "special tax adjustments" clauses, including general anti-avoidance rules, thin-cap rules, and transfer pricing documentation requirements under the new CIT Law?
- What long-term plans should be formulated in view of the new challenges and opportunities?

Charles joined PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1990 after several years of working with the Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department.
He provided personal taxation services and was the group leader of the Hong Kong Personal Tax Group until January 1994, when he started specialising in China tax compliance and advisory work. He has worked on many tax negotiation assignments and advises foreign investors on all areas of PRC taxation and investment. In addition, he has extensive experience in international tax planning advisory. Charles is the partner responsible for PricewaterhouseCoopers’ tax services in Guangzhou. Charles is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a member of the Hong Kong Society of Accountants.
