This extremely popular restaurant, now with two locations, is more evidence that nostalgia is selling well in China. One manager, lumping over 500 years together, defined the cuisine as "Ming-Qing," and a realwaipo(grandmother), dressed in simple garb, greets customers. The larger restaurant, in the Metropolitan Plaza, has a separate hot pot dining room next door that does an equally rousing business. Three of the best entrees in the main restaurant aretieban shao zhi yinxueyu(silver snow fish cooked on an iron plate), serves six; the slightly hotqingjiao bao ziji(baby chicken quick-fried with green pepper); andguoba roupian(pork with bamboo shoots over crispy rice). Faintly sweet corn cakes(yumi bing)complement the latter two dishes well.
