A top French official has praised a Shanghai police officer for her help after he and his wife were robbed.
Jean-Luc Lepine, the Inspector General of Finance of France, wrote to the Chinese ambassador in France, Kong Quan, to extend his gratitude to Zhou Ting, a female officer with the Shanghai Railway Police.
When visiting China on a personal trip in May, the Lepines were robbed on a train to Suzhou. Zhou impressed them with her friendliness. She calmed the couple down and took them for tea in the police office. She told the couple where to find an ATM machine and escorted the couple there to ensure their safety.
He also said in the letter that he had donated money for the earthquake victims to show his gratitude to the officer and to the Chinese people.
