Shanghai calls young volunteers to go to Sichuan

Shanghai's Communist Youth League Committee and Youth Volunteers Association today called for young people in the city to join a reserve rescue team that may be sent to earthquake-hit areas in Sichuan Province.

Those below the age of 40 and with work experience in medical care and disease control are encouraged to join the team that may be sent to the front lines of areas devastated in Monday's 7.8-magnitude earthquake, the Youth League Committee said on its Website today.

People can log onto the Volunteers Association's Website (www.shzyz.org) or call 6242-9219 to apply before 5pm Friday.

Foreigners who have "stayed for a long time" in Shanghai can also apply, committee staff told Shanghai Daily.
