Huatian Dajiudian
This newly renovated and upgraded (to five-star) hotel is Changsha's biggest and most luxurious. It's also one of the most expensive, but with the 40%-to-50% discounts that are standard here, the rates become reasonable. Conformity usually defines hotel design in China, but the bold-colored fresco behind the reception counter of this hotel sets a tone of originality that carries throughout. For example, on the way to the elevator, guests cross a glass bridge that spans a fishpond full of goldfish. The guest rooms, too, have original touches. Bathroom sinks look like elegant glass bowls. In plusher rooms, a walk-in closet connects with both the bathroom and the bedroom. Business suites have huge bathrooms with bidets and very attractive separate shower and tub.
Facilities:
4 restaurants; bar; indoor pool; health club, airline, train, and bus ticketing; business center; forex; ATM; 24-hr. room service; dry cleaning/laundry
