Zuo You Jian (Mima Cafe)
The coffee and cuisine are just passable, but if you need a touch of serenity, visit Mima on a weekday afternoon or a summer evening. Located just north of the east gate of Yuan Ming Yuan, outdoor courtyard seating is covered over by rice paper domes, set around clusters of bamboo. The washroom is the most stunning I have ever encountered, and worth the trek in itself. Open daily from 10am to midnight.
