A scroll with more than 2,000 autographs.
The scroll had been planned for the Sichuan leg of the Olympic Torch Relay, but a BOCOG-invited visit to the Olympic venues changed the students' mind and they decided to move up the presentation time. Teacher Gou flew to Beijing with the scroll and a letter from the teaching staff and students to convey their best wishes for the Olympics. Gou, assigned as an Olympic torchbearer for the Mianyang leg, said he may be the only torchbearer in his hometown to have survived the earthquake.
On May 31, a group of students from Sichuan Province's earthquake-hit areas toured the "Bird's Nest" and other Olympic venues. Encouraged by preparations for the upcoming Olympics, they pledged to make progress in their schooling through these hard times in the aftermath of the earthquake.
"Through the scroll, we see a promising Beichuan School," said Wang Pingjiu, who received the gift. He said the gift will live in the hearts of millions of Chinese people and in the history of the Olympic Games.
