The Guangzhou Asian Games Organizing Committee recently held a Media Briefing in Singapore launching its Asian Tour. Reporters from a dozen Singapore media, including The Straits Times and the United Morning Post, paid close attention to the progress of preparations for the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games. They closely questioned the Asian Games representatives in the areas of investment, transportation, environment, service and others.
Ms. Annabel, Vice President of the Singapore National Olympic Council attended the briefing and said that the Singapore sports delegation made significant achievements at the Doha Asian Games, ranking No. 12 in the medal awards. Too, the Guangzhou Asian Games is another challenge and provides additional opportunities for Singapore to develop its sports industry. Singapore has reportedly set a goal to strive to be among the top 10 countries in medal awards.
Ms. Annabel also said that the influence of Asian Games covers the whole of Asia and that many international enterprises in Singapore are aiming at opening up both the Chinese and Middle Eastern markets and are sure to use the Asian Games as a platform for major publicity efforts.
