Approved by IOC and Chinese Olympic Committee, the first Olympic Museum opened to public recently in southern Fujian's Xiamen city.
It is one of the 12 museums of this kind in the world.
Situated in the city's Southern Ring Road, the Museum consists of a lobby and an exhibition hall. In the lobby, the most eye-catching exhibit is this huge rock dug from the bottom of the Yantzi River. It's learned that this rock, weighted 80 tons, had been lying on the river bottom for millions of years.
The Museum amazing lines symbolize the everlasting Olympic spirit. The exhibition hall is divided into four sections, displaying its own category of items. Among the art collections displayed are the nest-shaped model of the National Stadium, replica of the clock used in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, Olympic torches, and the first and the only square-shaped medal. From the various display items in the Museum, visitors can come to know more about the history of the Olympics, the culture and the spirit of the game. Source: Fujian Media Group
