Qing Yuan Shan
This hilly spot boasts nine Buddhist and Daoist statues, more Islamic tombs, and inscriptions (as befits a seaport) praying for wind. The Lao Jun Yan, a Song dynasty statue of Daoism's semimythical founder, Laozi, at the base of the hill near the ticket office, is almost a symbol of the town -- a benevolent, balding, bewhiskered, and big-eared seated figure, broader (8m/26 ft.) than he is high, and of considerable charm.
